Gateway Sign Project Underway

Gateway Sign Project Underway****Update: As of March 2016, we are currently looking for donations to replace the old sign on Pittsburg Avenue NW. ****

The new Gateway Entrance Sign design has been chosen after input from the community. The community expressed a desire during the Master Plan meetings that the City had numerous styles of signs that did not best represent the City. The new signs are made of brick and stone and carry a N C logo. The first sign was installed on North Main Street near Orion Road N.W. The sign project’s goal is to have the signs erected at all our main city entrance points. The signs are being paid for by donations from individuals, organizations and businesses. As of March 2016, we are currently looking for donations to replace the old sign on Pittsburg Avenue NW. Additional information is available below including the original presentation by Councilman-At-Large Mark Ceretta to Council on the final design choice and for information on how you can donate to the sign project.

The Presentation

During the formation of the City of North Canton’s Master Plan it was found that many residents felt the present city signs did not really represent us as a city. The present signs were of different styles and did not differentiate us from other cities. It was decided that it was time for something new and classy to tie into our new development and tie us into our past. Several different styles were presented and the Community responded with many suggestions. One style was decided upon to represent our City at the various entrances.
