City Electric Aggregation Program Update – March 2, 2016

The  residents passed by ballot in November that the City of North Canton should offer an opt-out electric aggregation program. City Council authorized the program on February 22, 2016 with the passing of Ordinance #4-2016.  The city filed the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) certification application last week and the 30-day review period should end 3/27/16.

We just had our Request for Proposal (RFP) issued to all eligible suppliers (52 companies, 96 sales representatives) and proposals are due back 3/23/16 at 5 p.m. It will take a couple of days for our consultant to review the proposals, get questions answered, prepare a presentation and recommendation and meet with city officials.

If all goes smoothly we would anticipate letters going to our residents in May and a July start date for our aggregation electricity flow.
