After joining the NCFD as a part-time firefighter/EMT in August 2002, Cramer transitioned to full-time duty in January 2006. He held the rank of Captain for five years before being promoted to serve as Battalion Chief in June 2021. As a 21-year veteran of the NCFD, Cramer has gained extensive Fire/EMS knowledge through both practical experience and numerous educational and certification courses. Throughout his career, he has been certified as a Fire Inspector I & II, Fire Officer I-IV, Incident Safety Officer, and Health Safety Officer, and has successfully completed trainings endorsed by reputable organizations including the ALICE Institute, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the American Heart Association, the Ohio Department of Public Safety, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Cramer succeeds previous Fire Chief John "Dutch" Bacon, who will retire on February 16 after almost 45 years of service with the NCFD.

“I look forward to serving the community and working with all the dedicated members of the department as we move forward. I have learned a lot from Chief Bacon and value the knowledge and friendship he has provided me over the past 21 years of working together. I wish him well during his retirement,” said Cramer.

As Chief Bacon prepares for the next chapter in his life, he is confident in Cramer's abilities and optimistic for the future of the NCFD.

"I'd like to congratulate Drew on his promotion to Fire Chief. I know that with his experience and knowledge, he'll be an exceptional leader. The Fire Department has an exciting future with the Command Staff and Firefighter/Paramedics currently serving. I leave it in good hands," said Bacon.

A Louisville High School alumnus, Cramer has lived in North Canton for a combined 18 years. When he is not on duty, he enjoys spending time with his wife Jennifer and their five children, whether it be travelling as a family or cheering his kids on in their many activities. Congratulations, Chief Cramer, and best of luck in your new role!
