Appointed as a part time firefighter in 1979. Promoted to Captain in 1992. Certified as an Emergency Medical Technician in 1992. Promoted to full time Inspector / Firefighter / EMT in 1998. Appointed Interim Chief of the Department in 2002. Appointed as City’s first full-time Chief of the Fire / EMS Department in February 2003. Chief Bacon Is a State Certified Fire Service Training Instructor.


Ron Feller, Assistant Chief

Appointed as a part time firefighter in 1984, Promoted to Captain in 1992. He was promoted to Assistant Chief, March 2009. Chief Feller is a State Certified Fire Service Training Instructor and in addition to fire ground command his responsibilities include the development and implementation of the Departments Fire Service Training Programs.


Jack Patterson, Fire Captain

Appointed as a part time firefighter in 1966; Promoted to Captain in 1983; Responsibilities include fire ground supervision and assisting with training.


Gary W. Coen, Fire Captain

Appointed as a part time firefighter in 1986; Certified as an Emergency Medical Technician in 1991. Promoted to full-time Fire Safety Inspector in 1998; Promoted to Captain in 2003; Captain Coen’s responsibilities include arson investigations, fire ground supervision, inspections of city schools, health care facilities, new construction and restaurants. He is also a Nationally Certified Child Safety Seat Installer and provides this service to the public.


Ted Scheffler, Fire Captain

Appointed as a part time firefighter in 1987; Certified as an Emergency Medical Technician in 2000. Promoted to Captain in 2003, in addition to fire ground supervision Captain Scheffler is responsible for the Departments annual vehicle certification program.


Herbert ‘Kip’ Beadle, Fire Captain

Appointed as a part time firefighter in 1992; Completed the requirements to become a Certified Fire Safety Inspector in 1994. Certified as an Emergency Medical Technician in 1998; Completed Firefighter I requirements in May of 2005 and was promoted to Captain in June of 2005. In addition to fire ground supervision, Captain Beadle is a member of the Fire Prevention Bureau and is responsible for the inspection of fuel storage and dispensing facilities and underground and above ground combustible liquid tank installation and removal.

Rich Rhodes, Fire Captain

Appointed as a part time firefighter in 1998; Promoted to Captain in 2009; Responsibilities include fire ground supervision and operational responsibilities, Shift Captain, and Car Seat installer.


Eric Schliffka, Fire Captain

Appointed as a part time firefighter in 1991. Promoted to Captain in 2014. Responsibilities include Shift Captain, fire ground supervision, operational responsibilities, and supervisor of the UAV (Unmanned Areal Vehicle) program, used for search and rescue, and firefighting.


Drew Cramer, EMS Captain

Appointed to North Canton EMS in 2002 as EMT basic and received his Paramedic certification in 2002. Drew was hired full-time January 3, 2006 and promoted to Captain December 1, 2016. Captain Cramer serves as an EMS Shift Captain, Firefighter, Fire Inspector, and CE Instructor. Captain Cramer also serves as the departments EMS Liaison officer with area hospitals and Med Control, Field Training Officer, Infection Control Officer, Nationally Certified Child Safety Seat Technician, ALICE Instructor, grant writer, and is the local President of the Firefighters union, IAFF Local 3489. Captain Cramer was appointed as a member of the Fire department’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) in 2008.


Allen DeGuzman, EMS Captain

Appointed to North Canton EMS in 1989 as a Paramedic. Promoted to Captain in 2016, Captain DeGuzman serves as an EMS Shift Captian, CPR Instructor, Fire fighter, and Car Seat installer/administrator.  Allen has also received SWAT medic training in 2004 and has served as a member of the fire department’s Emergency Response Team (ERT).


Amy Shover, EMS Captain

Captain Amy Shover started part-time with North Canton in April of 1995 as a Basic EMT and received her Paramedic certification in 1998. Shover was hired full-time on January 1, 2003 and promoted to Captain in September, 2012. Captain Shover serves as an EMS Shift Captain. She received SWAT medic training in 2004 and has served as a member of the fire department’s Emergency Response Team (ERT).


Jim Davis, Fire Captain

Appointed to North Canton Fire Department in 2011 as a Part time Fire Fighter/EMT-Basic. Jim was promoted to Fire Captain in 2016.  Responsibilities include fire ground supervision, operational responsibilities, Shift Captain, CPR Instructor, and is certified as a Fire Protection Engineer.
