A STARtacular North Canton Summer Kick-off Event
Community organizations join forces to present an outdoor showing of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MAY 3, 2017 – On Friday, May 19, 2017, the North Canton Public Library, North Canton Chamber of Commerce, North Canton YMCA and North Canton Jaycees will join forces to kick-off a summer of fun in the center of the city.
The event, a STARtacular North Canton Summer Kick-off, invites the community to Bitzer Park for Star Wars themed activities beginning at 7 p.m. and an outdoor viewing of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story at dusk.
“Collectively, our four organizations will bring a multitude of activity to the city center this summer,” said Christina Weyrick, community relations manager for the North Canton Public Library. Among these will be a race, a parade, outdoor live music, outdoor films, a multi-day festival, swimming, a fair, fireworks and much more. “In 2016, chamber president, Doug Lane, approached me with the idea of joint promotion for our organizations’ summer programming and when I saw that Rogue One licensing was available, the idea of a combined Star Wars themed event seemed like a great way to reach people with information about the many events happening right in the center of town” explained Weyrick.
Each organization will provide fun Star Wars themed activities as well as information about the summer fun they have planned for the community. The event is open to all ages; the film is rated PG-13. Refreshments will be available and attendees are encouraged to bring chairs and/or blankets.
Bitzer Park is the green space at the corner of Maple and Main Streets, next to the North Canton YMCA. In the event of rain, the event will be moved to the North Canton YMCA.
