City of North Canton

The City of North Canton is a Charter form of government. The Mayor of the City is elected by the popular vote of the residents for a two-year term to begin on the first day of December following the election. As the elected executive of the City, the Mayor is responsible for the enforcement of all laws and ordinances, and for control and proper operation of all administrative departments and divisions as provided by the Charter.
The current Mayor, David J. Held, appointed Director of Administration Michael J. Grimes, who is responsible for the general administration of the affairs of the City.

The North Canton City Charter establishes that the responsibility for administration of the City shall be with the Mayor, as executive, and the Director of Administration, who shall be responsible to the Mayor for the general administration of the affairs of the municipality.

The City of North Canton promotes Ohio business development by offering Ohio business incentives through two Ohio community reinvestment areas within North Canton.

The City of North Canton has two Ohio Community Reinvestment Areas (CRA) within its borders.

There is an Ohio CRA application process governed by Ohio Revised Code Section 3735.67, which ultimately must be approved by the State.
