About the Commission
The Civil Service Commission provides by rule for assessment of merit and fitness for appointment and promotions in City employment. The Commission also handles appeals from disciplinary actions such as transfers, reductions, or removals. Such rules are adopted in the sole discretion of the Civil Service Commission and prevail over, conflicting State of Ohio statutes, rules, or regulations.
The Commission consists of three members appointed by City Council on a volunteer basis. The Commission meets as needed to address concerns or hold tests.
